What is CreateAT?

CreateAT is a hackathon style event that aims to engage students in creating Assistive Technology (AT): any aid that helps an individual with a disability complete a task more easily and independently. We create teams of Makers, students designing and building the solution, with a Co-Designer, an individual with a disability who faces a daily problem that can be fixed with a relatively simple tool, the AT.

What is a Codesigner?

A Co-designer is any individual with a disability who faces a daily problem that can be fixed with a relatively simple tool (assistive technology)

What is a Maker?

A Maker is a student that works with a co-designer to design and build a solution

Who can sign up?

We welcome all UConn students, regardless of major or year! This event is designed to raise awareness and facilitate a dynamic discussion with students with disabilities.

Accomodations

Do I need experience?

You do not need experience to join! Anyone is welcome to apply as long as you come with an open mind and are willing to learn!
